Online Tutoring Services for European Qualifying Examination (EQE) Candidates

1. Registered Business Name

This website and tutoring services are operated by:

EQE School LLC, a company registered in Hungary, under registration number 01-09-447740, with its registered office at 31 Martonhegyi Street, Budapest, 1121, Hungary (“EU Provider”).

For services provided within the United Kingdom, tutoring services are operated by:

Fillun & Decketts Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12862037, with its registered office at Hova House, 1 Hova Villas, Brighton & Hove, BN3 3DH, United Kingdom (“UK Provider”).

Together referred to as the “Provider”.

The applicable contracting entity (EU Provider or UK Provider) will be specified in writing at the time of booking and will depend on the location of the participant and/or the tutoring season.

2. Description of Services / Products

The Provider offers educational and tutoring services designed to prepare candidates for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) before the European Patent Office (EPO).

Services may include:

  • Online group classes

  • Study groups

  • Intensive revision courses

  • Mock examinations and marking

  • One-to-one private tutoring sessions

  • Written feedback on candidate scripts

  • Strategy and exam preparation workshops

All services are delivered remotely unless explicitly agreed otherwise.

Pricing

Prices vary depending on:

  • Type of service (class, study group, private session, marking service, etc.)

  • Tutoring season

  • Group size

  • Duration and frequency of sessions

  • Level (Pre-Exam, Papers A–D, etc.)

  • Customisation requirements

Typical price ranges (indicative only):

  • Group courses: €500 – €2000 per course per person (or equivalent in £)

  • Study groups: €500 – €2000 per season per person (or equivalent in £)

  • Private sessions: €500 – €750 per hour per person (or equivalent in £)

All details are tailored for each tutoring season and specified on a case-by-case basis for all classes, study groups, or private sessions.

Final pricing and scope of services are confirmed in writing via email prior to enrolment. Prices are communicated directly to participants and may be quoted in EUR or GBP, depending on the contracting entity.

VAT (if applicable) will be specified in the invoice and collected, reported and remitted in compliance with all applicable EU directives, UK and local laws.

4. Method to Request or Purchase Services / Products

Services may be requested or purchased by:

  1. Contacting the Provider via email;

  2. Completing a website contact form; or

  3. Responding to an invitation or course announcement.

Following an initial enquiry:

  • The Provider will confirm availability;

  • Details of the tutoring season, format, schedule, and pricing will be provided via email;

  • A written confirmation of enrolment will be sent;

  • An invoice will be issued;

  • A binding agreement is formed upon written acceptance and/or payment (as specified in the confirmation email).

The Provider reserves the right to refuse enrolment at its discretion.

5. Terms and Conditions of Service

5.1 Educational Purpose Disclaimer

The tutoring services are educational in nature. The Provider does not guarantee:

  • Passing the EQE;

  • Achieving a specific grade;

  • Improved performance.

Success in the examination depends on the candidate’s independent preparation and performance.

The Provider is not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Patent Office (EPO).

5.2 Delivery of Services

  • All sessions are delivered online via video conferencing platforms unless otherwise specified.

  • Access links and materials will be provided via email.

  • Participants are responsible for ensuring adequate internet connectivity and technical capability.

  • The Provider reserves the right to substitute tutors if necessary.

Session schedules, materials, and formats may be adapted for pedagogical or practical reasons.

5.3 Payment Terms

  • Payment terms are specified in the invoice.

  • Full payment may be required prior to the start of services unless otherwise agreed.

  • Failure to pay may result in suspension or cancellation of access.

  • All bank charges, currency conversion fees and VAT are the responsibility of the participant.

5.4 Cancellation Policy

By the Participant

For group courses or study groups:

  • Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email.

  • Refund eligibility (if any) will be specified in the season-specific terms sent by email.

  • Once a course has commenced, refunds are generally not available unless otherwise agreed.

For private sessions:

  • Sessions may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice.

  • Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged in full.

All cancellation terms are confirmed in writing for each tutoring season and agreed on a case-by-case basis.

By the Provider

The Provider reserves the right to cancel or reschedule sessions due to:

  • Insufficient enrolment;

  • Tutor illness or force majeure;

  • Technical or operational reasons.

In such cases, participants will be offered:

  • A replacement session; or

  • A pro rata refund.

5.5 Refund Policy

Refund policies are tailored for each tutoring season and are specified in writing before enrolment.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Administrative fees may be non-refundable.

  • Refunds (if applicable) will be processed within 30 days of confirmation.

  • Refunds will be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

5.6 Intellectual Property

All course materials, recordings, handouts, templates, and model answers are the intellectual property of the Provider.

Participants may:

  • Use materials for personal study only.

Participants may not:

  • Share, reproduce, distribute, or publish materials;

  • Record sessions without permission;

  • Use materials for commercial purposes.

5.7 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Provider shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses;

  • Total liability shall not exceed the fees paid for the relevant service;

  • Nothing limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is unlawful.

5.8 Data Protection

Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including:

  • The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable;

  • The UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, where applicable.

5.9 Governing Law and Jurisdiction

If the contracting entity is the EU Provider, the agreement shall be governed by the laws of Hungary, and disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.

If the contracting entity is the UK Provider, the agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

6. Modifications

The Provider reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of enrolment applies to the relevant tutoring season.
