M1 study group with Khushbu Solanki
Khushbu Solanki
Chartered & European Patent Attorney, qualified UPC Representative, EQE tutor (based in London)
For the past 10 years, I have worked in the patent profession at Cleveland Scott York. With a background in biochemistry, I advise clients across a broad range of life science innovations.
Alongside my professional practice, teaching and mentoring have been an important part of my career from the very beginning. During my time as a trainee, I was actively involved with the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), serving on both the Informals Committee and the Education Committee, where I held the roles of Treasurer and Tutoring & Mentoring Coordinator. These experiences sparked my interest in supporting trainees and helping them develop both their understanding and confidence in doing the professional exams.
After qualifying, I continued tutoring trainees within my firm as well as guest trainees, preparing them for both the UK Patent Examinations and the European Qualifying Examinations (EQEs). More recently, I have focused on the new EQE syllabus, tutoring candidates for Papers F, M1 and M2, giving me first-hand experience of the structure and expectations of the new examinations. I like helping candidates develop not only their technical knowledge but also the practical exam techniques needed to approach these exams with confidence. It has been particularly rewarding to see my trainees perform well in the exams.
I am delighted to be joining Fillun as a M1 tutor and look forward to helping the next cohort of EQE candidates build a strong understanding of the M1 syllabus, develop effective exam techniques, and prepare with confidence for success.
