Paper M2/D1 methodology and tips (NEW)
This course includes two videos (and the corresponding PDF materials). In the first part, I talk about general tips, methodology and talk about how you can approach open questions in Paper M2 or D1. In the second part, I analyse and discuss three D1 questions (2025 Paper D1, Questions 1, 2, and 5 – these are the most typical EQE questions in the most recent D1 exam), and show my answers.
Unfortunately, many people with strong legal knowledge still fail Paper D. There can be many reasons for this: stress on the day of the exam, technical issues, not writing enough, including too much irrelevant detail that wastes time, or failing to cite the necessary legal basis. Many of these issues can be addressed—not just by revising legal topics, but by learning methodology and reviewing past candidates' answers.
In 2025, many candidates failed Paper D. Quite a few performed poorly in D1, but the D2 part saved them. In M2, unfortunately, there is no D2 part to save you—you have to pass both parts of M2 separately. And in the last Paper D (in 2026), D1 will be worth 58 marks, so you really want to give it your best and not rely too much on D2.
To help you, this online course focuses on how to write free-text answers to EQE legal questions. You can use this knowledge for the last Paper D exam and for all M2 exams, since at least 50% of each future M2 exam will be open questions. In fact, in 2026, the new M2 exam will only include legal questions requiring free-text answers—just like D1 questions.
With the purchase, you will obtain:
video about methodology and tips (about 65 minutes long);
my presentation with many helpful tips and a study plan (PDF);
video about me analysing and answering 2025 Paper D1 Questions 1, 2 and 5 (about 65 minutes long);
my answers to 2025 Paper D1 Questions 1, 2 and 5 with comments (PDF).
Please note that unfortunately WISEflow cannot be used when screen sharing, so I wrote my answer in a simple text editor to have similar exam conditions.
Should you be interested in this information, my Paper D mark was 86.
This course was recorded on 30 July 2025. A reduced price applies until the end of September!
