Last-minute PCT refresher for CIPA

I was asked to provide a short presentation as a last-minute PCT refresher for EQE candidates. The event took place online, on 12th February 2024 and was organised by CIPA Informals. More than 150 candidates attended.

Since the meeting was free to attend, I decided to also upload the presentation to my blog.

The majority of the EQE questions concern the step of filing and EP entry. I tried to list all legal issues and problems that can occur at these steps and also listed the D1 questions (from the last 11 years) that deal with those issues. If you see a legal issue in the presentation that you are not sure about (e.g. the start of provisional protection, minimum entry under Art.153(5) EPC), make sure to check it in your reference book, add a tab & your notes, answer a few related questions and check (maybe even print) the model answer.

Good luck!

This presentation and also many, many useful tables can be downloaded from my website for free. These will stay free in the future as well. However, I do spend days on preparing my tables and presentations, so if you want to support my work, any feedback about this meeting is welcome!

Furthermore, if you want to practice more before the exam, you can also join the Mock D1 exam I am organising (taking place on 21 February). This way, you can practice under time pressure, answer new questions in the same setup as Paper D1 2024, but also support my work.

The recording of the presentation will also be shared on the CIPA website: https://www.cipa.org.uk/lecture-archive
